That Sunday morning I learnt a very great lesson, a very great lesson in a hard way.
It was a very fine Sunday morning, at about 7am my friend and I set out to church. As we were walking down the street we saw a girl whom we recognized in the area, although we had never spoken to her, she was also going to church - her church was beside ours. My friend and I then mischievously decided to compete with her, we said, "let's get to the church before this girl". We weren't going to run, we'd just walk fast. We walked down the street and got to the last lap of the race, which was crossing to the other side of a major road.
And then it happened, she crossed!
She won, or so we thought for a few seconds.
As we lamented the 'loss", we heard a loud screech and that girl was under the car screaming in pain.
We froze.
"That could have been us"
"She didn't even know we were competing with her"
I never saw her in that city after that day.
And now every time I can't help asking myself:
"Where are you going to?"
"Why are you racing?"
"Did God ask you to run?"
"Do you need to run?"
"Do you need to compete with that person?"
